Connie Grier has been professionally engaged in instruction and educational management within the public school arena for over 20 years as a student focused educational leader possessing a strong commitment to social justice, parental engagement, relationship building and the development of students and staff. During this time, she has been praised as a “great communicator who advocates for what’s RIGHT as opposed to what’s easy.”
As an Assistant Principal, collaborating with the families of her students for academic success and securing needed supports for her school community were seen as non-negotiable activities. She continues to service youth and families through her 501c3 non-profit organization, The RESPECT Alliance, an organization devoted to bringing the “respect” back to interactions between home, school and society; through CKG Consulting, LLC, her educational consulting firm, and through her commitment to implementing and sharing effective mentoring practices outlined in her published book The ABC’s of Mentoring: A Bi-Weekly Road Map to Uplifting Youth available on Amazon.com.
As a mentor, Connie provides support to young ladies through her S.T.A.R.S. (Successful Teens: Aware, Resilient, and Strong) mentoring program, which focuses on 12 core tenets embodied by successful youth
Connie is currently in the dissertation stage of her Doctoral degree, which focuses on Parental/Familial Engagement and its impact on the transition from middle school to high school and also writes a weekly blog for The Good Men Project. She is a Fellow with the Center for Progressive Leadership, a State of PA Certified Service Learning Consultant/Trainer and an Adjunct Professor at Wilmington University and Temple Universities.

• Ardella’s House
• The Graterford Think Tank
• Philadelphia Youth Aid Panel
• The F.A.C.T. (Fathers and Children Together) Program

– Some of her life growing up in Philadelphia with a father who was a mother and a father since her mother had a mental illness with five other sisters
– What made her Dad so special and how he has impacted her life

– Some of her thoughts from being a classroom teacher for seventeen and half years
– why is keeping families connected when fathers/parents are incarcerated is a crucial subject at this time, why does this situation exists in America and the impact that race and class has on this subject
– What are the roadblocks at the school level and what do schools need to do with the children of incarcerated parents
– The need for the refocus of the American criminal justice system
– how a parents and the children of incarcerated are reacting to her advocacy
