Jaymie Bowles (pronounced Bowls) On-Air name is “Jams” is 26 years old from Boston, Massachusetts. She is the youngest of three siblings and is currently living in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Ms. Bowles has her BA of Communications from Arcadia University in 2008 and is Certified in Broadcasting from Connecticut School of Broadcasting in 2012.

Interned with WURD after being certified and was offered my own talk show in March. Since then she have become the voice of the youth for 900 AM WURD.

Jayme’s show is called WURD Up, and is a talk show formatted for the issues the younger generation faces. Topics include, teen pregnancy prevention, cyber bullying, interviews with various Non Profits and Organizations in and around Philly that are doing good work in the community, Trayvon Martin, Obamacare, Social Media 101, Relationships, etc.

During our conversation, Jayme talks about:

– What it was like being youngest of three children of professional parents who were entrepreneurs with her mom working on the police force and father being an engineer
– What is was like for her mother being a Black women working on the Boston police force for nineteen years
– Her educational experience
– What was it like growing up with a sister who was eleven years older than her and a brother four years older than her – when did the vision come to her the communications would be the career that she would pursue
– How did she land her position at WURD 900 AM
– What was her first show at WURD 900 AM like?
– Why does she discuss the topics that she does on her show
