Rocco Achampong is a lawyer in Ontario who specializes criminal, family law and litigation. Lance McCready is associate professor of urban education at the University of Toronto. Lance is also co-leader of the research project about the Black fathers experience in Toronto.

During the Black Daddies Club Friends and Family BBQ on August 18, 2012, we had them discuss about about discussion of gun violence in Toronto communities.

Some of the subjects that they discussed included:

– Is there a gun problem based on city of the size of Toronto?
– The media coverage of the gun violence issue
– Black fathers concerns about their sons getting involved in criminal activity
– Some of the causes of gun violence – Is there a problem with the Black home?
– Some of the issues and challenges of being a provider that many Black men face
– The difference between racism vs. prejudice
– the media coverage of the alleged gun violence in some of Toronto Black communities and is there an agenda
