Black Canada Talking™ is a live online event that provides Black Canadians opportunity to give their takes and POVs on stories that are of importance to them.
Our scheduled guest for today’s show is Sean De Freitas.
Sean is a founder and business owner of Zayick Management Services.
He’s passionate and enthusiastic about accounting and finance and holds a CPA designation.
Sean works in this profession because he enjoys helping and supporting the people and the companies that he interacts with. He likes the industry and likes to talk shop.
His advice, input and support, is geared towards adding value, providing help and support, that will improve performance which helps businesses to improve the service for their clients.
During the 20 plus years since attaining a professional accounting designation, Sean has seen, time and time again, that no project can get off the ground without both, tight control and a solid methodology, applied to the numbers.
There are stereotypes about accountants, who are seen as hermits, tightwads, penny-pinchers and misers, math nerds or boring people who are here just to do taxes. The truth is actually very different to this stereotype. Accountants are required to develop and maintain skills such as innovation, commercial awareness, communication, resilience and understanding. These skills have enabled him to operate and manage in an ever-evolving business world, to provide fresh ideas and solutions.
As he has to constantly communicate information in the most straightforward way possible. It’s essential that he constantly assimilate new information and data, manage projects whilst delivering for existing clients and meeting new clients.
Accountants are indispensable, no matter how big a company ever gets, the need for an accountant and accounting function persists.
It has occurred to Sean that there are individuals who have the ability and the responsibility to participate in and support the development of the Black community. Sean is a committed participant in this process and is taking an active role in the continual development of the Black community. As well as being an advisor, who is working with the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce and also working with a youth focused “not for profit organization”.
The events that occurred during 2020 have drawn attention and increased the focus on the need for individuals to play a role within their local community and to give back wherever and in whatever capacity possible.
