The scheduled guests on this month’s edition of Dr. Vibe’s Allies are: Victory Unlimited, Henri Morris, Clive Henry and Jonathan Shaw.
The special guest on month’s Dr. Vibe’s Allies is Alford A. Young, Jr.
Alford A. Young, Jr. is Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Sociology, Afroamerican and African Studies, and Public Policy (by courtesy) at the University of Michigan. His central research focus has been on how low-income African American men construct understandings of various aspects of social reality. His books include The Minds of Marginalized Black Men: Making Sense of Mobility, Opportunity, and Future Life Chances (Princeton University Press) and Are Black Men Doomed? (Polity Press). He is completing From the Edge of the Ghetto: African Americans and the World of Work (forthcoming from Rowman and Littlefield Publishers). Young has also researched how African America scholars conceive of the social utility of scholarship and the teaching experiences of higher education faculty, especially those committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The panelists will be talking with Mr. Young Jr. about his book Are Black Men Doomed?.
