Joye Dunkley – The Joye Ride

Ernestine Joye Dunkley (Joye) is the founder of The Joye Ride, an organization focused on restoring the hope & hearts of at risk individuals who may have lost direction. Joye lived a high risk lifestyle for many years, while suffering from bullying, poverty, depression, & low self-esteem. Joye thought hanging around a negative, corrupt crowd validated her & continued to do so even after being raped, physically abused & used for illegal transactions. Although she knew what she was doing and the things she was involved in were wrong, without the guidance, self-esteem & scruples she headed straight down a dark road. After losing her mother to Cancer in 2006, Joye knew it was time for change.

As a single mom, who struggled to survive and moved numerous times with her baby boy, Joye was tired. Still battling temptation and involvement with the wrong men, Joye decided to change her life for the better, get a job & try her hardest to live right. Joye created The Joye Ride in 2010, which began with The Joye Ride DVD/On Line video series chronicling “The Fast Life” hosted by Joye herself. In 2011 her past caught up with her and she was extradited from Canada to the US on a major Federal Investigation that back dated to 2005. Although her involvement in the case was minor, she was sent to jail, where she was looking at 18-22 months at a Federal Correctional Facility in the US. Joye ended up at one of America’s worst county jails in the entire country while she awaited her destiny. After she denied the bail offered, held herself accountable and plead guilty to her charge, Joye received a time served sentence after 7 months in jail. While behind bars Joye grew even more passionate towards high risk individuals she was already reaching out to through The Joye Ride organization before her incarceration.

The Joye Ride now has a motivational pen pal program, a program for at risk youth at Falstaff community center, Kool Kicks shoe drive for the homeless, and last but certainly not least an inmate release program in which they provides inmates who have nothing upon release with the basic necessities of life.

Joye continues to visit incarcerated men & women in her community, listening to them with empathy and speaking to them about her success while encouraging them to live out their positive dreams. Joye’s favorite saying is “I Believe in YOU”. Outreach is Joye’s passion.
