Actor and singer Patrick Bruel ended up being one of France’s biggest stars throughout the ’90s,
first making the name for a teen idol and leading a return to traditional
French chanson from the new millennium. Bruel was born Patrick Benguigui within Tlemcen, Algeria, on, may 14, 1959.
Their father abandoned a family when Patrick was merely a year old, including 1962, after Algeria gained its independence, his mom moved to France, negotiating within the
Paris suburb of Argenteuil. A good soccer player in his youth, Patrick first decided upon the idea of being singer after seeing Michel Sardou perform
in 75.
As chance can have it, acting would bring him his first success; first-time movie
director Alexandre Arcady ran an offer seeking a young
man which has a French-Algerian (or “pied-noir” in This particular language slang) accent for his video
Le Coup hun Sirocco. Benguigui (as he was still called) responded and
acquired the business. The next year, he spent some time in Nyc, where he met Gérard Presgurvic, later
to become his primary songwriter.
