The RBC Black History Month Student Essay Competition

The Royal Bank of Canada is encouraging students to enter this year’s RBC Black History Month Student Essay Competition.

The essay competition offers high school students who will be applying to a Canadian university or college for the 2013/14 academic year the chance to be awarded one of three scholarships ($3,000, $2,000 & $1,000) for their essay on how black Canadians have helped to define Canada’s diverse heritage and identity through their achievements and contributions to the broader society.

Essays will be judged by a panel of esteemed Canadians including Mitzie Hunter, CEO – Civic Action, Dwight Drummond of CBC and Mr. Justice Irving Andre, Superior Court of Justice. Winning essays will be profiled during February 2013.

Essays must be no more than 750 words and must be submitted by December 17, 2012.
