BaKari Lindsay is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Toronto based COBA. He was born in Trinidad and Tobago.
COBA mission is to “preserve the cultural traditions of Africa and the African diaspora through education, research and public performance.”
During our conversation, BaKari shares with us the history of COBA, why it was started and how it has positively changed lives over the last 20 years and what keeps COBA going.
BaKari also tells us how dance entered in his life, his journey since, how he came to Toronto and how easy is was for him to adapt to Toronto, the story about their new studio in downtown Toronto which is scheduled to open in July 2012 and he gives the background on Les Rythmes de la Forêt which is being performed from February 3 to February 5 at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.
