Another first!! Our interview with a Black man living in Tokyo, Japan!! Norman Munroe was born in the city of Chappleton in the parish of Clarendon in Jamaica. He regards himself as a country boy. He has lived in Tokyo, Japan for the last eight years.
Norman takes us on his journey from going to University of The West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica (where he studied broadcasting and journalism), working in the field of journalism and public relations in Jamaica for many years, the differences between journalism and public relations, how and why going to Japan entered his life and his family and friends reaction, some stories about the journey from Jamaica to Japan, his day working in Japan, his experience surviving the Japan earthquake earlier this year, how is Japan recovering from the earthquake, what changes and challenges a Black man would have to face if he moved to Japan, the Alien Registration Card, how singing has been a part of his life that has provided him great opportunities, his cooking business Sweet Jamaica Things (http://sweetjamaicanthings.com/) and the Japanese fascination with and love of Jamaican culture.
